SABBIA TUTT’INTORNO. Fine, bollente, appiccicosa.
SAND ALL AROUND. Thin, hot, sticky. I'm surrounded by sand, I'm surrounded by Sardinia. Since three weeks I am recording the smells, the noises, the guttural sounds of its people...I recalibrate my sense to the sight of country roads which cuts woebegone hay-fields, I look hypnotized the sapphire's waters that wash the coast and the millions of stars that listen to the nighty love litanies of frogs and insects. I store datas, looking for an answer to an undone question. My brain processes them following an obscure algorithm, but the answer is still the same: I do not belong to this land anymore, to this island that grew me up and that -even in the furthest corners of the world- gave me a mixed sense of pride and protection. It is sad to tell it, but I feel like a stranger in the center of my kingdom.
I look the faces of the tourists in the Alghero waterfront and I notice that they're all happier than me, that they like what does not give me any emotion and I feel less Sardinian than a Danish, a Norwegian, a German. The white sand I am lying on does not look the one of a beach but the one of a huge desert, a ruthless land which let you die without any chance. What once was happiness now is bleakness, and maybe right now there is not anything for me in these places that everybody envies but which are every day more empty and fond. I would like to back to Madrid today, and maybe even Madrid is not far enough to forget: I chose to live there because it's only two hours flight far from home, but does it matter anyway? Maybe the time for departure has come, maybe the other ones should keep on playing to the happiness game in the lost island of Atlantis.
Come si sta li in Nuova Zelanda, o caro Max? E tu, Peddiz? Come vi invidio ragazzi, come vi invidio.
How are you doing there in New Zealand, my dear Max? And you Peddiz? Tell me if the waves of the Gold Coast are better than the Mediterranean splashes! And you, damn Fico, are you happy to leave? I envy you all guys, I envy you all. You know, among the pages of this notebook there is a flyer I kept with me since my last Siamese trip. It says FOUR SONS VILLAGE - COMFORTABLE AND FRIENDLY, Rambutree Rd., Bangkok. If I had the money I'd leave just right tonight, without tell anything to anybody, leaving everything behind as Alex Supertramp...maybe it won't change anything, but maybe yes.
QUOTE OF THE DAY | I will miss you too, but you are wrong if you think that the joy of life comes principally from the joy of human relationships. God's place is all around us, it is in everything and in anything we can experience. People just need to change the way they look at things. Christopher McCandless

E quale casa poi?
E poi qua mi piace, non so perchè.
