MADRID E' SILENZIOSA DOPO NATALE.
MADRID IS SILENT IN THE BOXING DAY. The small bar in St Blas district -a typical Spanish bar- is crowded of guys in their 50es who smoke and talk in a loud voice, while on the ground the mountain of fags and dirty tissues grows up. Everytime I have breakfast in a bar I think of the disgusted expression of Fabio, my Roman friend who remembers vividly the gross moments of his visit to Madrid.
I have to admit that hygiene is not their primary concern, but you end up appreciating the folklore. Hemingway would be happy, probably. And Montesano too.
A big LCD screen in the corner shows the news of the day, but it's impossible to listen to them amongst the guys yelling, happy for these days off: the videos are of the windblown and snowy costs of the North, crowds in Teheran's squares, a yellow Lamborghini crushed in some tropical island.

Even if it's the Boxing day it's not cold, and apart that it looks it's gonna rain it isn't a bad day. I wonder if my parents did their way through the hellish labyrinth from Stansted's check-in desks to its boarding gates, a real heat that I would like to suggest as olympic sport for London 2012.
QUOTE OF THE DAY | Maldita ciudad, no es tu mejor momento y aún estás hermosa. Vuelvo a Madrid. Ismael Serrano
